A new mortar supply company has recently set-up its third production plant using equipment supplied by Imer Group's batching plant division comprising of an Oru Rome CZ2 horizontal batching plant and MS500 planetary pan mixer. Established in September last year, Sunderland based Ever Ready Mortar now has similar plants in Washington, Eccles and Sheffield from where it offers up to 16 different mixes for free delivery within a 15 mile radius of each location.The robustly constructed plants, supplied and installed by Imer Direct of Birmingham, produce high quality brick laying mortar, with up to 72 hours retardant if required, at a rate of 0.25 cu m every 1.5 minutes. This rapid production is made possible by the plant's fully automated control system which enables one batch to be weighed whilst another is being mixed.
Each batch is dropped from the paddle mixer directly into sturdy plastic tubs before being loaded onto one of Ever Ready's fleet of custom-built delivery trucks and trailers which are capable of carrying a total of eights tubs - two in the bed of the truck and a further six on a trailer. Once on site, the tubs are off-loaded by means of small truck-mounted cranes.This highly efficient method of supplying mortar is proving very popular with DIY customers and small builders as considerable savings can be realised in terms of both time and space. For example, if material is delivered first thing in the morning, bricklayers can commence work immediately - and at a cost virtually the same as producing mortar on site but without the hassle or health and safety issues to worry about. The first Imer plant to be installed is currently producing mortar at a rate of 60 tubs per day, but the company plans to increase this in the near future to approximately 240 per day at each location, all with guaranteed quality and consistency.
